We are a private, multi-generational family foundation that invests in the development of social and emotional skills that lead to better prospects for children from low-income families in Bridgeport, Connecticut.

Letter from our Chairman and President

On behalf of the Board of Directors, we’d like to thank you for your interest in the Tauck Family Foundation.

While the Tauck Family Foundation had been working to enhance the lives of young people through grants and programming for over a decade, our board recommitted itself to youth from low-income families and to one geographic area - Bridgeport, Connecticut - with the adoption of a revised mission in 2012:

Our mission is to invest in the development of social and emotional skills that lead to better prospects for children from low-income families in Bridgeport, Connecticut.

This new mission - along with new grant guidelines, investment structures, and staff roles - has significantly changed the way we do our work. This shift  was the result of more than a year of strategic planning, research, and outreach. We are confident that it will allow us to be more effective as a funder and that it will allow our investees to be more effective in their daily work with young people.

We invite you to read our website to learn more about the Challenge we are addressing, our philanthropic Approach, the organizational and child Outcomes we are seeking, our outstanding Portfolio of non-profit investees working with children in Bridgeport, and the Resources that inform our work.

We recognize that we have much to learn. While social investing and outcomes management are not new ideas (and we are fortunate to have colleagues and advisors whose years of experience in this type of work guides and informs us), they do represent a significant shift in thinking and approach for us. Our staff and board are committed to navigating this path together, learning from each other, being flexible enough to adapt as we acquire new insights, yet remaining singularly focused on the social and emotional needs of young people and the organizations that serve them.

We look forward to discovering where this direction takes us.

With appreciation,

Arthur C. Tauck Jr., Founder and Chairman                             Elizabeth Tauck Walters, President
